A deep sigh escaped your lips when the door closed behind the last customer. It had been a long and tiring day, your legs had started hurting five hours ago, and all you wanted to do was finish closing the bakery and head home. But there was a lot to do before you could, so you put on some music and got started.
Quietly singing along, you disappeared into the kitchen, where you portioned the cupcake dough you had made earlier into the baking trays and slid them into the oven, setting a time on your phone before you started cleaning. As quickly as possible, you washed all the bowls, whiskers, and anything else that had gotten dirty that day, the thought of your bed ever present in your mind. Once you were done with that, you quickly vacuumed the floor and were about to wipe it, when a familiar sound stopped you.
The bell that hung above the door to the bakery rang out and you cursed at yourself. Had you really forgotten to lock the door after the last customer left? With another sigh, you walked into the salesroom, an annoyed ‘We’re closed’ almost leaving your lips before your eyes fell onto the little girl who had walked in. Her eyes were big and round, shining with unshed tears while her lips trembled.
“Oh dear, are you okay?”
You rushed to her side and knelt down in front of her, reaching out to gently grasp her shoulder.
“I…I l-lost da-daddy.”
She squeezed her eyes shut as the tears began to stream down her cheeks, her little shoulders shaking with every hiccup as she tried to suppress the sobs. Without thinking, you pulled her into a hug, her little fingers immediately curling into the fabric of the shirt you were wearing.
You stayed like that, hugging the little girl until she calmed down a bit, her body still shaking with hiccups. But you pulled away, gently swiping the tears away, as you gave her a reassuring smile.
“It’s going to be okay, we’ll find your daddy, yeah?”
She nodded, though she didn’t seem too confident. Convincing her would take some work.
“Okay, let’s start with your name, hm? Can you tell me that?”
“Mi-Millie.”
Your smile pulled into a grin, that you hoped looked proud.
“Great! Now, what’s your daddy called?”
Millie looked at you, confused.
“Daddy.”
You should’ve expected that answer. After all, she looked to be about four. What four-year-old knew their parent’s actual name?
“Oki dok. Do you know any way I can reach him? His phone number?”
She shook her head, a pout forming on her lips as she glanced at the floor. You hesitated for a second, but you didn’t know what else to do.
“Okay, let me just grab my coat and we’ll go to the police station nearby. I’m sure he would go there to look for you.”
But before you could rise to your feet, Millie reached out and stopped you, a panicked look on her face.
“No! We…We can’t go to the police. They don’t like daddy.”
Her statement confused you, but with the way she looked at you, you couldn’t force her to go either. While you were contemplating what to do, the timer on your phone went off and you got an idea to at least keep her busy until you came up with something. With a smirk, you looked at her.
“Do you like cupcakes?”
Millie looked confused but nodded. You rose to your feet and held out your hand, offering it to her.
“Want to decorate some while we wait for your daddy? You can even decorate one for him.”
A bright smile spread across her lips and you couldn’t help but fall in love with it. She nodded full of enthusiasm, her worries gone for at least the moment. So, after helping her out of her jacket and with her hand in yours, you led her to the kitchen and sat her down on the counter. You were just glad that the kitchen had a window front to the street. That way, if her father came along, he would be able to see her inside.
“Wait here for me, okay?”
She nodded and watched as you carefully pulled the hot trays out of the oven and placed them on a counter, far away from the little girl. You then checked the fridge, to see if there was any buttercream left, but there wasn’t. So you grabbed all the ingredients and walked back to Millie.
“Do you want to help me make some buttercream? We can even color it.”
Her eyes lit up and she nodded vigorously. After you put an oversized apron on her, you showed her a simple buttercream recipe, Millie snacking on it the whole time while you made it. Once it was done, you portioned it into different small bowls.
“What colors do you want?”
“Pink! And purple and blue and green and also yellow.”
You chuckled and nodded, pulling the needed food colors from a shelve. As you slowly placed them with the bowls, Millie reached up and tugged on your sleeve.
“Can we also make some black? Daddy really likes black.”
You again nodded and retrieved the last color. Together, you colored the buttercream, Millie whisking away at the pink one, while you quickly finished the other colors. Once you were both happy, you showed Millie how to put all the different colors she chose into the same pipe, so that it would be a colorful swirl when put onto a cupcake. She watched, her eyes wide and sparkling as if you were showing her how to create magic dust.
Once the cupcakes had cooled enough, you brought three over, one for each of you and one for her dad. While you carefully guided her hands, showing her how to use the pipe, you watched her as she poked her tongue out in concentration. A soft smile spread on your lips as adoration for the little kid overcame you.
Once all three cupcakes had buttercream on them, it was time for sprinkles. Millie of course wanted a lot of sparkles, hearts, and bows. While she was busy combing through the different sprinkle containers you had, you retrieved a large chocolate heart from the fridge. You used it to decorate cakes, but you thought Millie would love it. But for the moment, you decided to hide it, only wanting to reveal it when they were done.
“Did you find something you like?”
Millie nodded, while still looking through the containers.
“Do you have skulls?”
It took you a moment to realize that she was still talking about sprinkles. Once you overcame that initial shock, you nodded and retrieved another box, the one you kept the seasonal sprinkles in. You handed the little girl a container filled with small skulls, pumpkins, and spiders and she smiled.
“Daddy really likes skulls.”
You smiled as you stored that information. Black and skulls and not on good terms with the police. Sounds dangerous.
For the next few minutes, you decorated the cupcakes. For your own, you decided to go with your favorite sprinkles and a bit of glitter. Millie truly overdid her own and her father’s cupcake, but you couldn’t help but smile as you watched her concentrate, trying to find a free spot where one more skull sprinkle would fit.
Just as she found the spot and pressed the white form into the buttercream, the bell above the door rang out again and you could hear fast footsteps approaching. Both you and Millie turned to look toward the door and you couldn’t help but step in front of the little girl, shielding her body with yours. But then you heard it.
“Millie!”
A large man burst through the door, wild eyes finding yours before they jumped to the girl behind you.
“Daddy!”
With a relieved sigh, he fell to his knees, opening his arms as his little girl bolted toward him, almost stumbling over the apron on her way. She crashed into his chest, wrapping her short, little arms around his neck as best as she could. A soft smile tugged on your lips as you watched the duo. His brows were furrowed, but not in an angry way. No, he looked scared and desperate, but at the same time so very relieved.
Not picking up on her dad’s whirlwind of emotion, Millie immediately began talking, telling him all about the cupcakes. The man glanced up at you as his daughter pulled out of his hug and rushed back to the counter. As soon as your eyes met his, you felt a shiver run through you. You couldn’t explain it, but the way he looked at you felt…intimate.
“Daddy! Daddy! Look what we made.”
Millie quickly had his attention again, as the man joined her at the counter, his eyes landing on the cupcakes.
“We made them. There is one for me. And one for you. And one for her!”
He smiled - good god did he look stunning when he smiled - as he watched Millie point out all the details.
“Well done, munchkin. Why don’t you finish up so we can go home, hm?”
Millie nodded, not reacting when he pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of her head before he turned to you. Oozing confidence, he took a few steps toward you, only stopping once he was close enough that you could smell his cologne. Another shiver ran through you at the proximity, as you had to crane your neck to meet his eyes.
“I’m Simon. Thank you for…well, for taking care of her.”
You smiled, and for a moment Simon stopped breathing. The moment he spotted you through the window front he knew you were beautiful, but smiling up at him, you were just stunning, his fingers itching to reach out and feel you against him.
“It was a pleasure.”
Your eyes left his and landed on Millie as she poured more sprinkles onto her cupcake.
“She is amazing. Told me not to go to the police, because they don’t like you.”
You chuckled, expecting him to do the same, but he avoided your eyes as a light blush dusted his cheeks.
“She’s not wrong there. I-”
He was interrupted by Millie calling for him. And with an apologetic smile, he joined her at the counter. While the two were busy, you decided to quickly clean whatever you could, the rest you would do the next morning. Once you were done, you grabbed a box and the heart you had hidden, before walking up to the pair. Millie was showing Simon how you had put all the different colors into the piping bag, as he reacted with ‘ohs’ and ahs’ at exactly the right moments. You smiled as you watched, quickly catching Simon’s attention, as he glanced at you with a crooked grin.
“Millie?”
The little girl stopped and looked up at her dad, who gently motioned toward you. As soon as she saw the heart you were holding on a napkin, she started bouncing with excitement. Carefully, you handed it to her and watched as she stuck it into the buttercream on her cupcake, a big grin on her face.
After a few moments of her admiring it, you convinced her to let you box up the cupcakes, so she could leave with her father. While you did that, Simon carried his daughter to the sink, where he helped her wash her hands, before he dried them for her. With the box, you met them in the salesroom, where Simon was helping his daughter into her jacket. You knelt down and carefully handed the box to her.
“Don’t drop it, okay?”
She nodded and grinned, watching as you rose back to your feet. Simon was standing beside her, his wallet in his hands. Before he could say anything, you shook your head.
“No, it’s fine, really.”
“But-”
“I insist. It was a pleasure to spend time with your daughter.”
He smiled, and before you could protest, he shoved a few notes into the tip jar on the counter. You inhaled, ready to protest, but when you looked at him, you knew that it was futile, so you smiled, feeling your cheeks heat up.
“Thank you.”
The intensity of his gaze was too much, and you quickly found yourself glancing at the floor, jumping slightly as you felt his lips press to your temple.
“Thank you for taking care of her.”
He pulled back and you glanced up. Simon easily picked Millie up, before bidding you goodbye and walking out of your bakery. Millie waved at you the whole time until they were out of sight. A soft smile spread across your lips, as you turned towards the corner, curiously pulling out the tip Simon had left you. But when you counted the bills, you couldn’t believe it. You counted them three more times, before accepting the fact that he had left you $300.
But what caught your attention even more, was a black business card in the middle of the folded notes.
Simon Riley.
Simon.
Riley.
Riley.
Riley.
Riley!
A gasp left your mouth as you realized who you had just dealt with. Simon Riley, the local mafia boss, feared by everyone, hunted by the police. No wonder Millie didn’t want you to go to the police. As you continued to stare at the card, a shiver ran through you, wondering if you’d see the mafia boss again.

AN ~ short bucktommy angst/whump with a happy ending, coz i love torturing my boys. 8x07 spoilers and verrrrrry loosely insp by a still from 8x08
typing
Why would he type type type and not send anything?
The alarms blare and Buck throws his baking back in the oven and sprints downstairs, but his mind is elsewhere. This? This is all muscle memory at this point. His mind occupies itself with other things, wondering what exactly Tommy might have wanted to say.
Evan. No. Buck. God, he still hates it that he called him Buck.
Can we talk? Tommy always was a man of few words. Or maybe Buck is just a man of many. But what does 'can we talk' even mean? He'd be spiralling just as hard as with the silent disappearing bubble. It's better this way.
MARRIAGE, EVAN??
God, he's an idiot. A pathetic, clingy idiot. Even now he would kill for a second round, just to dig that knife in deeper. At least then maybe, he'd be able to pick up what he'd missed before; where exactly that big dimpled grin and soft eyes had turned to hard words and hidden pain. At least then, he'd be able to fix it.
Hen watches him with a knowing eye.
“Stay strong, Buck,” she reminds him as they pull up to the scene. “Head in the game.”
Buck nods. He drops his phone on the seat and packs it away to the back of his mind, as best he can. Maybe he'll get to whip out the jaws of life. They always make him feel better. Shake it off, Buckley, let's go.
He's the last one out of the engine, and he hits the ground already triaging the scene. His senses expand, cataloguing the vehicles, the passers-by, the direction and nature of the accident. Eddie and Bobby are getting a run-down from a uniformed police officer on scene and it happens a splt second before Buck's mind catches up.
“A silver-” he overhears - “oh-”
He can see it in his minds eye, almost feel it even as his own heart sinks; the way recognition sets into Eddie's face. And then horror. He looks further down the road, to a sight that's partially obstructed from Buck's view. Partially, but not so much that he doesn't start running toward it because he has a feeling he knows, he knows, he knows who it is.
Why would he type type type and not send anything?
“Buck-” Hen warns, reaching to grab him but she's already missed.
Buck knows he should be helping but his world is caving in. Bobby's barking commands but all he hears is a wordless echo. Ravi hustles the balloons and the jaws up to the worst hit of the vehicles and Chimney is already there; medkit tossed over the worst of the shattered glass as he kneels by the dangerously crushed window and tries to make contact with the person inside.
“Buck.” It's Eddie this time, blocking with his body as much as he can – and he can, even with the full force of Buck throwing himself forward - but even he can't stop the terrible, terrible knowing.
“TOMMY!”
The name rips out of his lungs, because it's the truck: it's Tommy's pride and joy. It's singing along in the passenger seat and Tommy's smiling – sometimes he joins in, even though he wouldn't otherwise care for Buck's taste. It's Tommy slinging a greasy towel over his shoulder and hitching himinto the truck bed and making out until they both can't breathe. It's spilling the salt from hot chips in there; it's shoulder to shoulder at the drive-ins; it's getting fucked into the seats; it's polishing and vacuuming just last week because he can't help with the engine for shit. He'd put a little thing of jellybeans in the cup holder after - like his old detailer used to do, just to be cute - and it hits him that that's what those little coloured smudges are, intermingled with the crushed glass littered across the road.
What if he's in trouble and he needs my help?
“Oh, God, Tommy.”
The howling turns to hopeless. Breathless. The fight evaporates right out of him and he collapses forward into Eddie's arms. Eddie's embrace is firm and steadying as he lowers them both as gently as he can manage to the curb. Buck closes his eyes, sapped of the strength to watch any more but cursed by the knowledge of what's still got to be happening. Hen and Chim will be extracting Tommy's bruised and broken body onto a backboard right about now, and then lifting him onto a gurney. They'll be doing CPR if he's lucky – and they are, he can hear it, so at least there's that.
Then it stops.
For a few, horrible seconds all he can hear is his own hammering heart. Eddie's ragged breathing. Footsteps. Bobby.
“Buck.”
It takes a second, for him to gather the courage to open his eyes and look up. Bobby's demeanour is solemn and serious, but there's a softness Buck recognises well. A lightness that promises things might just be okay, as he offers a hand to pull Buck up from the roadside.
“He's asking for you in the ambulance,” Bobby says, and there's just a flicker, just an iota of a smile as he urges - “Go.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media
whenever my fiance leaves the bed, alucard immediately gets up and runs to his spot. it feels like hes always just waiting for him to get up so he can come and spoon me

EZEKIEL
His birthday is April Fools Day and that could not be more fitting. Despite being a little old man at 12 (almost 13!) years of age, he’s still very playful, energetic and affectionate. He regularly wakes submitter up because he wants cuddles. He also likes to play fetch and steal salty snacks.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last photo is from one of the many times he’s climbed between the couch and the wall so he can jump up and scare my brother
He’s a very good boy who comforts me during anxiety attacks. My family and I call him Ezie for short and he isn’t afraid of anything, be it fireworks, thunderstorms or vacuum cleaners. Other nicknames include “stinky old man,”“sneezy,” and “cheese weasel.” Because he also likes to steal cheese. He will take it right off your sandwich.
SUMMER
She’s a Siberian, and she’s submitter's emotional support animal she’s such a good baby and they would kill for her! She has a whole host of chronic health issues but she’s handling it like a trooper. Beloved by all friends family and vet staff she deserves the world!!

Journey to the Past Ch 23
Tumblr media
Bryan Kneef x reader
It was very safe to say that the next week was one hell of an awkward one. You were irritated that you weren’t able to get into a doctor right away, wanting to get this sorted out as soon as possible but the earliest appointment you could snag was Friday at four in the afternoon. The pessimist side of you was certain that the tests had been flukes, that this was a warning sign of something worse going on in your reproductive system, another bad cyst or something of the like. Maybe the tests had been expired, you’d forgotten to even check until you were sitting in your office on Monday pretending to work. You were thankful at least that you still had your apartment, able to spend some extra hours in the office and blame the late night and not wanting to drive across town to avoid Bryan, not wanting to let him know and thus panic before you had confirmation. You hated it, having to spend a full week in limbo, but your hope wasn’t very high considering your history and none of that was affecting anything positively.
You were even more thankful with just how patient he was with you, giving you the space without asking too many questions, accepting the excuse of a long hard week of work, overwhelmed with cases. He still went out of his way to drive up to your firm, making sure you had lunch (and a fresh coffee you pretended to sip at while he was still there) and were taken care of. You knew that he loved you no matter what and was just hoping that would extend to your current stipulation. You’d spent a couple of nights at his place (that was now both of yours), but retired to bed early, the exhaustion setting in heavily being a nice excuse to avoid the nightly wine.
Which is exactly why on Friday Bryan had left work early to make sure the apartment was not only clean, but as close to spotless as he could get it. He knew he’d been lagging in that department this week and felt bad about it, so he did as much as he could. Laundry was tossed into the machines, sheets were changed and refreshed, the living room was tidied and vacuumed and the pile up of coffee mugs in the sink got put in the dishwasher and ran through. He’d stopped at the grocery store on the way home, picking up things for a lavish dinner including appetizers and a pricey bottle of Argentinian wine. He knew you’d had a long stressful week and wanted to make sure you were well taken care of, and he figured you probably wouldn’t want to go out tonight after it all. The appetizers were easy to take care of, setting the display up on the kitchen island so he could start on the main course, wanting it to be ready as close as possible to when you got home.
Once the chicken was in the oven he poured out a glass of leftover wine from the previous night for himself while he waited, retreating further into the house to change into something more comfortable before swapping over a load of laundry. A case file lay open on the island that he was going over when he heard the front door open and the tell tale sign of your heels on the hardwood. You rounded the corner of the hallway and let out a small sigh, a tiny smile on your cheeks when Bryan’s eyes met yours.
“Hey.” He greeted with a warm grin and you hummed in response, dropping your bag and blazer onto the couch, practically kicking off your heels before letting out a groan at the shoes no longer pinching at your feet and making a beeline to Bryan.
“Hi.” You murmured into the crook of his neck, appreciating the way his arms tightly wound around you, letting you rest in his embrace for a few moments as you let out a couple of breaths, his lips brushing against your hairline.
“Long day?”
“Long week.” You replied, finally letting go, accepting the gentle kiss he gave you.
“Well, here.” He reached around you, pouring a glass of the lavish wine out for you, handing you the glass and you let out a little sigh, turning in his arms to face the island.
“What is all this?” You asked, your brow furrowing. You could smell that he was cooking dinner from the moment you’d set foot in the apartment but hadn’t taken into account the platters set up on the island. Bryan let out a soft chuckle, wrapping you in his arms from behind, his lips kissing at your neck gently.
“I felt like you were having a bit of a rough go this week.” He murmured, his words broken up by kisses, “wanted to treat you but I figured you wouldn’t want to go out, so why not bring the fancy restaurant to you?”
“You’re too sweet.” You picked up his hand in yours, brushing your lips across his knuckles and he gently squeezed at you. Your eyes glided across the island and you couldn’t help but let out an ironic laugh at the sight, Bryan had set up a plate of oysters, a homemade charcuterie and cheese board beside it and of course, the wine.
“What?” He asked, teeth nipping at your skin, “you already knew I could cook, is this that much of a surprise to you? You know I love you.” His lips trailed across your skin as he spoke.
“I don’t know how you managed to fucking do it, but I can’t eat any of this.” You stifled another laugh, Bryan still distracted in nuzzling against your skin.
“Oh c’mon.” He chuckled, “you love oysters.”
“I do.” You nodded, “doesn’t mean I can eat them.”
“You know they’re an aphrodisiac?” He muttered, finally turning you half in his arms so he was facing you, your sides to the island as he cupped at your cheek, lips chasing after yours.
“You really think you need an aphrodisiac to get me in bed?”
“No but figured it couldn’t hurt.” One of his hands vanished from your waist, drizzling some hot sauce onto an oyster that he then sucked back, “they’re fresh, and fucking delicious.”
“Bry…” you laughed, unable to keep the grin off your cheeks at the devilish look in his eyes as he continued to tease you, shifting you in his arms again so you were facing the island and all the bits and bites.
“Try the cheese, that lavender honey goes fantastically with the blue.” He nuzzled into the crook of your neck again, “it took me an hour to figure out the fucking salami roses.” His hand started to reach out for the soft cheese and you finally found your words again.
“Give me the gruyere.”
“Knew I’d get you somehow.” He chuckled, picking up a cube and guiding it to your mouth before he shifted again to face you, his hip resting against the island, “it pairs perfectly with the wine.” He picked up your glass and your fingers gently pushed it back to the island and he let out a scoff of a laugh. “What?”
“Out of the things on this island, there’s approximately five things I can eat and that includes the pickles.”
“Did you eat already?” His brow furrowed, “Larissa said you’d left work early for something.”
“No. I—”
“Dinner’s almost ready,” he smiled, pecking your cheek softly, “settle in, have some wine, trust me, it’s a good bottle.” He slid the glass toward you again and you let out a small laugh,
“Bry, I can’t.”
“You had rough week, let the past be in the past, have some incredible wine.” He laughed, stepping toward the stove when the timer went off to move a pot off a burner. “it’s what you deserve.” He moved back to you, an arm winding around your waist while he took a sip of his own wine, “I’ve got to be able to spoil my girl, that’s all I was trying to do sweetheart.”
“I know.” You smiled softly, accepting the kiss he left on your lips.
“I’m fine if you ate without me,” his lips started to trail across your jaw, “I can eat later… cause I can definitely think of something I’d rather eat right now instead.”
“Bry!” You laughed, hands attempting to grasp at his body as his mouth began to make its way down your neck.
“What’d’you say, have some wine and relax then let me make you even more relaxed? Hmm? Enjoy the food later after you’ve worked up an appetite again?”
“Bryan…” you nudged at his chin and all he did in return was attempt to hand you the glass of wine again before burying himself in the crook of your neck, “Bry…” you couldn’t help but giggle at the sensation of his beard scratching against your skin, “Bryan, c’mon.”
“Take a sip and I’ll stop.” He murmured, his tongue soothing the spot he’d just bit and your fingers threaded into his hair in a very unsuccessful attempt to tug him off you.
“Bryan…I’m pregnant.”
The words slipped from your lips; it wasn’t exactly how you’d been planning on telling him but it seemed to be the only way to gain his full attention. Even then it took a few moments for him to actually hear you, his lips continuing to kiss at your skin before you finally felt his body tense for a second before he pulled his face from the crook of your neck.
“Wait… can you seriously not eat cheese while you’re pregnant?” He asked, a worried look on his face and you couldn’t help the bark of a laugh.
“Is that seriously your first question here?” You asked, watching the way his eyes suddenly darted from yours down to your stomach and back up. He felt the all too familiar sensation suddenly burning in his gut and start to creep up his throat as he scrambled through his thoughts to try and form proper words.
“You’re pregnant?” He asked quietly and you nodded, he felt a pang within him at the fact that you didn’t have an excited smile on your face, nor did you look like you were panicking, you were stoic, nearly unreadable in the moment. “Are… are you sure?”
“Yeah.” You let out a small breath, “Kim was freaking out last week ‘cause she was late, I took a test with her to help calm her nerves.”
“You’ve known all week?” Bryan stilled in front of you, a moment of irritation flashing over his features and you gave him a knowing glance as you let out a huff.
“No.” You shook your head, gently squeezing at his hand “I was certain it was a false positive. I didn’t want to say anything until I knew for sure. I didn’t want to freak you out for no reason and I mean, there might still not be any reason to freak out.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well I may have cleared the twelve week mark but considering my age and history, who knows how things’ll turn out.” You watched as his brow furrowed, the wheels turning in his head, “what?” Your voice suddenly soft, timid as it left your lips, worry etching its way across your face before Bryan glanced back up at you.
“You’re three months along?”
“Almost four.” You replied, wringing your hands, “listen…” your hand met his lapel gently, “I know there’s a lot to unpack here…” you felt the butterflies building in your gut, terrified that you were about to lose the man you loved because of your decision. “Even if I wanted to, it’s too late to terminate. But this is what I’ve always wanted, a baby, a family… I thought I’d lost that opportunity nearly a decade ago.” Tears began to blur into your eyes, “but sometimes life kicks our asses in the greatest way and gives us the second chance we never thought we’d have. I’m having this baby. And I know that might not be what you imagined for your future, so I understand if this is the end for us.”
Bryan looked up at you with an unreadable expression on his face, you could see the slight pain deep in his eyes but weren’t sure exactly where it was coming from. He on the other hand saw nothing but worry in yours, knowing just how many things you were probably terrified of right now. His hand shifted to cup at your cheek, thumb stroking at your skin gently before he spoke.
“I told you I wanted a future with you.” He said gently, his voice impeccably soft as his chest swelled, “no matter what kind of future that is, I still want it.” He felt you let out a breath, your shoulders sagging in relief as your body relaxed in front of him, “I may have a lot of reluctance in myself as a father but I know you’ll be the most incredible mother in the entire world. It may take some baby steps on my behalf but I know you’ll be able to help me become the parent our baby deserves.”
“Our baby…” You nearly whispered, looking up at him with a happy smile.
“We’re having a baby…” He let out a bright laugh and you shrieked as he suddenly pulled you to him in a tight hug, lifting you up off the floor as you laughed. He only let go of you when the timer for the oven went off and he let out a quiet swear, reluctantly stepping away from you to pull the tray from the oven and grab plates from the cupboard as you crossed through the room. You grabbed your purse, crossing back over to the island.
“Smells amazing.”
“Oh fuck.” Bryan swore, his head shooting in your direction, “can you have cream cheese? It’s cooked?” You couldn’t help but laugh at his sheer innocence on the subject at hand considering just how brilliant his brain was when it came to the legal world.
“Yes I can.”
“You said almost four months…” Despite being calm Bryan also felt his mind going a million miles a minute as it raced through everything he did know about babies and pregnancy, “isn’t that when people start telling people?”
“Yeah,” you let out a small sigh, “but I’d really rather not do that yet.” He noticed the shyness in your voice, the way you nearly wrapped around yourself as you leant against the island and he stepped toward you, tilting your chin up to find a misting of tears in your eyes, a frown tugging at the corner of your lips.
“Hey… hey…” he assured softly, a hand resting on your hip, “I thought this was supposed to be a happy thing, why the melancholy face?”
“I’m scared.” You admitted after a minute, your voice doing its best not to shake, “I’m in my forties, I had a huge struggle getting pregnant before…this probably isn’t going to be an easy walk in the park or anything… all the risks are higher, I swear I got a bigger stack of brochures about the risks than the positives.”
“Are there any they’re particularly worried about right now?” He asked and you shook your head, “was it just a pregnancy test today?”
“It was the one thing after another. I explained the test I took, my history, they did another test, a blood test and then rushed me for an ultrasound.” You reached out, grabbing at his arm, “I’m sorry I didn’t call you I just didn’t have time and didn’t know how to explain everything over the phone, I would’ve much rather had you been there.”
“They did an ultrasound?”
“Yeah…” your hands slipped into your purse, flitting through until you pulled the small black and white photograph from within it, placing it down on the island in front of Bryan, “so far it’s one happy healthy baby…”
“Oh shit…” he almost timidly reached out for it, picking it up off the counter before his eyes flitted between it and your stomach, finally meeting your gaze as his hand reached out to stroke at your cheek, “and mom?”
“Healthy.” You nodded, the smile unable to be restrained as you nodded and Bryan let out a sigh of relief, kissing your forehead before he turned around, pinning the ultrasound to the fridge with a magnet and turned back to you, cupping your cheeks.
“Then we take the rest of this one day at a time.” He kissed you softly, “I’ll do everything I can to catch myself up to speed, but in the meantime we’ve got the money, we’ve got the connections, you’re going to have the best doctors in the country, we’ll run every test that’s safe for the baby and we’re going to do this.”
“Are you sure?” Tears began to blur into your eyes as a tiny laugh escaped your lips, “you really want this?”
“I do.” He kissed you gently, “you’re my future. And now this little bean is too.” One of his hands dropped to your stomach, resting gently there for a moment before your hand curved over top of his, fingers slipping between his.
“We’re having a baby….” You whispered, pure adoration pouring from your eyes up to his as he smiled back down at you, feeling his chest about to explode with the total and complete love wrapping around the two of you in that moment, only able to press a tender kiss to your lips before he replied.
“We’re having a baby.”

Before we get to the geopolitics, can we have a moment to inhabit the technological sublime? Microchips are some of the most extraordinary objects humanity has ever made. Miller has a good illustration of this: the coronavirus is tiny, about a hundred billionths of a metre across, but it is a galumphing heifer of a beast compared to the smallest transistors being made in Fab 18, which are half that size. TSMC is now talking about transistor nodes in terms of three billionths of a metre. This is so small that quantum effects, which happen mostly at the subatomic level, become relevant.
The machinery needed to manufacture these extraordinarily delicate artefacts has got bigger and more complicated as the microchips have shrunk in size and increased in power. The silicon is etched onto the chips with a new technique called extreme ultraviolet lithography. Think of a microscope, which makes small things big. Now turn it round, so that the lens is making big things small. And now use that process to take a super-complex design and etch it onto an infinitesimally small microchip. That is lithography, which has been the basis of microchip manufacture ever since Jay Lathrop at TI invented it in 1958. But as the chips have got smaller, the lithography process has got more and more difficult.
At the far limit of the technology is the Dutch company ASML, the only firm in the world to have mastered EUV lithography. This process involves the production of EUV light, which in turn involves
“a tiny ball of tin measuring thirty millionths of a metre moving through a vacuum at a speed of around two hundred miles per hour. The tin is then struck twice with a laser, the first pulse to warm it up, the second to blast it into a plasma with a temperature around half a million degrees, many times hotter than the surface of the sun. This process of blasting tin is then repeated fifty thousand times per second to produce EUV light in the quantities necessary to fabricate chips.”
The company that learned how to do this is an American firm called Cymer. Their process depended on a laser so powerful it produced too much heat unless it could be cooled with fans; but the fans ran so fast they burned out their bearings; so engineers invented a process for holding the fans in mid-air, suspended by magnets. The company that invented the new laser is a German firm distractingly called Trumpf. Its development took a decade. Each laser consists of 457,329 parts. The next stage in EUV was the manufacture of a new kind of mirror, made by the German company Zeiss, the smoothest mirror ever made: if it was the same size as Germany, its smallest irregularity would be 0.1 millimetre. But the most complicated laser ever made and the smoothest mirror ever made are just two components of ASML’s lithography device. Look back over that chain: the Taiwanese company (TSMC) commissions the Dutch company (ASML) which commissions the US company (Cymer) which commissions the German company (Trumpf) and also the other German company (Zeiss). It is no wonder that ASML’s latest EUV device is ‘the most expensive mass-produced machine tool in history’.
At this point, the technological sublime and geopolitics merge. Chips are ubiquitous, but top-end chips are not: they are the product of a highly concentrated manufacturing process in which a tiny number of companies constitute an impassable global choke point. If you can’t work with ASML, you can’t make a high-end chip. If you can’t get your top-of-the-range chip made by TSMC, Samsung or Intel, there’s no point designing it, because nobody else can manufacture it.

Spring Cleaning To-Do List
Whether you live in an apartment, house or condo, spring cleaning is a necessary chore. Use this catch-all checklist to ensure that every area is disinfected, tidied and freshened up for springtime!
Choose a cloudy day to wash windows to prevent streaks. Clean curtains and window sills. Wash baseboards and molding and touch-up paint where needed.
Kitchen
Your kitchen is one of the most-used areas in your home. It’s the hub of everything from meal prep and family dinners to after-school homework sessions and weekend craft projects. This area can get cluttered and messy fast, so it requires more regular deep cleaning than other spaces.
Begin with a clean slate by emptying trash cans and recycling bins. Sort through items you no longer use and donate or consign them. Empty drawers and cabinets, toss any expired food or drinks, and wipe down surfaces.
Next, clean appliances like your oven and dishwasher. Remove and wash cabinet doors and drawers, wipe down the sink, and clean your refrigerator and freezer
(defrost and sanitize if necessary). Finally, sweep and mop the floors. Don’t forget to dust doorknobs, outlet covers, and light switches. This is also a great time to change out filters and replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
Bathroom
A clean bathroom is important for health and hygiene. Smelly bathrooms can affect the entire house, and air fresheners can only mask the problem for so long.
Start by emptying the cabinets and drawers. Wash all the drawer contents, then organize and put items back in neatly. Organize and wipe down the cabinet shelves and the inside of the pantry and refrigerator, too.
Sliding door tracks and frames are often overlooked in cleaning, but they can get dirty quickly with a buildup of grime and moisture. Smaller dirt and dust particles can also become lodged in these spaces, which can cause the doors to stick.
Adding daily maintenance tasks can help you maintain your home between deep cleanings, says Rubino. For example, every time you use your shower, squeegee the walls and mirror to remove soap scum. Similarly, vacuum the floors regularly, and clean rugs and bathmats. This way, you can prevent mold and mildew growth and keep your family healthy and happy.
Living Room
The living room is the hub of your home’s social life and often the most-used space. It is also the room most likely to contain clutter, from kids’ art projects and school book bags to pet toys and remote controls. Start by decluttering and putting things away where they belong.
Once the space is clear, vacuum or sweep floors and dust the surfaces of the room. This may include removing curtains or drapes and following care instructions to clean them (or simply washing), dusting picture frames, mirrors, lamps, and window sills, and wiping down trim and baseboards.
If you have a long-handled duster or vacuum attachment, reach up to wipe down the ceiling and remove cobwebs. Finally, check and change the batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Keeping your living space tidy and clutter-free not only makes the family feel happier, it helps maintain a healthy indoor environment. The key is to develop a cleaning routine, not just for spring cleaning but year-round.
Dining Room
The dining room is where family members gather for meals and dinner parties. It’s important to make sure the area is clean and hygienic to prevent the spread of bacteria.
The table, chairs and furniture should be cleaned on a weekly basis to remove food spills and dirt. A vacuum or sweep and mop of the floor should be done on a weekly basis too to keep it looking and smelling fresh. Dusting is also an important part of cleaning the dining room. Use a long-handled duster to reach the top areas of cabinets, shelving and other furnishings. Remember to check and clean ceiling fans, crown molding and beams regularly.
When you’re finished, stand back and admire your hard work. Give yourself a pat on the back or a little spirited woo-hoo! You’ve just crossed another item off your spring cleaning to-do list! Enjoy your clean and fresh dining room.

Why Move-In/Move-Out Cleaning is Essential for Airbnb and Vacation Rentals
Vacation rental success hinges on two factors: cleanliness and positive guest reviews. Nothing detracts from an Airbnb stay like unclean spaces or remnants from past guests. Move-in/move-out cleaning addresses this need, ensuring your property looks and feels like new for each guest. Here’s why it’s especially critical for short-term rentals:
First Impressions Matter: Cleanliness is often one of the first things guests notice. A well-cleaned space signals professionalism and hospitality, setting the tone for a positive stay.
Guest Health and Safety: Now more than ever, guests expect cleanliness not only for comfort but also for safety. Detailed move-in/move-out cleaning ensures high-touch areas like door handles, light switches, and bathroom fixtures are thoroughly disinfected.
Boosting Guest Satisfaction and Reviews: Clean rentals lead to better guest experiences, which translates into higher reviews. Positive feedback is crucial for Airbnb and vacation rental success, making cleanliness a top priority.
Protecting Property Value: Regular, deep cleaning prevents long-term damage to furniture, flooring, and appliances. Investing in move-in/move-out cleaning is a step toward preserving your property’s value over time.
Reduced Turnover Stress: Turnover days can be hectic for Airbnb hosts, especially if guests are back-to-back. Having a professional cleaning team handle these turnovers efficiently takes the stress off your shoulders.
What’s Included in Move-In/Move-Out Cleaning for Vacation Rentals
Move-in/move-out cleaning is far more comprehensive than a regular clean. This deep cleaning process covers areas that may be overlooked in day-to-day upkeep, ensuring the property is ready for each new guest. Here’s what typically goes into a thorough move-in/move-out cleaning:
Detailed Kitchen Cleaning
Clean and sanitize countertops, sinks, and all appliances (fridge, oven, microwave)
Wipe down cabinets, inside and out, to remove food particles and grease
Degrease stovetops and clean all cooking surfaces to prevent lingering odors
Bathroom Sanitization
Scrub and disinfect showers, bathtubs, sinks, and toilets
Clean and polish mirrors, tiles, and chrome fixtures
Remove mildew or soap scum from tiles, grout, and other surfaces
Bedroom and Living Area Refresh
Vacuum carpets, mop floors, and dust all surfaces, including baseboards
Clean window sills, blinds, and glass doors for a streak-free finish
Dust light fixtures, ceiling fans, and any decor or furniture
Common Area Care
Remove cobwebs and clean high-traffic surfaces
Clean upholstery and ensure all furniture is in presentable condition
Tidy up any outdoor areas, ensuring patios or balconies are guest-ready
High-Touch Surface Disinfection
Sanitize door handles, light switches, remote controls, and other frequently touched surfaces to keep the environment hygienic.
Final Checks
Inspect the property to ensure all cleaning tasks are complete
Ensure fresh towels, linens, and essential supplies are ready for the next guest

Create a Cleaning Checklist: Have a checklist for each area of your rental to ensure every part is addressed. This can be shared with your cleaning team to maintain consistency.
Encourage Guests to Follow House Rules: Simple rules like “no shoes indoors” can help reduce wear and tear, making cleaning tasks easier.
Invest in Quality Bedding and Towels: High-quality linens last longer and are easier to clean, enhancing both guest comfort and your property’s appearance.
Regular Deep Cleans: In addition to routine turnover cleanings, consider scheduling a deep clean every few months to address any overlooked areas and maintain your property’s condition.

Deep Cleaning vs. Regular Cleaning: What Zephyrhills Homeowners Need to Know
Tumblr media
Deep Cleaning vs. Regular Cleaning: What Zephyrhills Homeowners Need to Know
Maintaining a clean home is essential for comfort, health, and well-being, but not all cleaning methods are the same. Many Zephyrhills homeowners may wonder: when should you schedule a regular cleaning versus a deep cleaning? Understanding the differences can help you determine which service your home needs, and when.
What Is Regular Cleaning?
Regular cleaning, often referred to as routine or maintenance cleaning, involves basic household tasks that keep your home looking tidy and free of dust and grime. This typically includes:
Vacuuming carpets and rugs
Mopping floors
Wiping down countertops and surfaces
Cleaning bathrooms (toilets, sinks, showers)
General dusting and tidying up
Emptying trash bins
Regular cleaning is ideal for weekly or bi-weekly upkeep and helps to maintain cleanliness over time. If your home is generally in good condition and you’re just looking for a way to keep things fresh, regular cleaning is the way to go.
What Is Deep Cleaning?
Deep cleaning, on the other hand, goes beyond surface-level cleaning and tackles areas that are often overlooked or neglected. This is a more thorough, detailed process that may include:
Scrubbing grout and tiles in bathrooms and kitchens
Cleaning behind appliances (refrigerator, oven, etc.)
Washing baseboards, doors, and frames
Dusting light fixtures, ceiling fans, and vents
Cleaning windows, sills, and blinds
Sanitizing areas that are prone to bacteria, such as door handles, switches, and bathroom fixtures
Deep cleaning is typically done less frequently—seasonally or once or twice a year. It’s also ideal when moving into a new home, hosting an event, or following a renovation.
Why Zephyrhills Homeowners Need Both
Given Zephyrhills' warm, humid climate, homes here may accumulate dust, mold, and allergens more quickly. Regular cleaning is essential for keeping your home presentable, but deep cleaning is crucial for ensuring that every nook and cranny is properly cleaned and sanitized. For allergy sufferers or pet owners, deep cleaning can help remove allergens that regular cleaning might miss.
When Should You Schedule Each Type?
Regular Cleaning: Weekly or bi-weekly, depending on how quickly your home gets dirty or cluttered.
Deep Cleaning: Every 3-6 months, or in preparation for special occasions like holidays or after major events.
Choosing the Right Cleaning Service in Zephyrhills
Whether you need a routine cleaning or a deep clean, choosing a reliable house cleaning service in Zephyrhills is key. Look for a service that offers both options and is equipped to handle the specific needs of your home, especially in a climate like ours. Hiring professionals not only saves you time and effort but also ensures your home stays fresh, hygienic, and comfortable all year round.

How to Preserve Food in Summer With Modern Techniques
Summer is here, and has brought along with it, fresh new vegetables and fruits for the season. However, summer is also a season when fruits and vegetables tend to go bad easily due to external heat and humidity. Thus, the summer season presents a challenge for us to preserve food items.
However, thankfully, modern techniques have revolutionized food preservation, which has made it easier than ever to enjoy summer flavours year-round.
With this being said, let's explore some simple methods to keep your favourite summer produce fresh and delicious. So, keep reading to find out more.
Tumblr media
Top Food Preservation Tips and Techniques for Summer
1) Refrigeration
Refrigeration is your best friend when it comes to preserving perishable foods like berries, leafy greens, and delicate herbs. Simply store them in the refrigerator to slow down the ripening process and extend their shelf life. Remember to keep fruits and vegetables separate, as some emit ethylene gas, which can accelerate ripening in others.
2) Freezing for Longevity
Freezing is a fantastic way to preserve the taste and nutrients of summer produce. Berries, peaches, and sliced vegetables can be frozen on baking sheets before transferring them to airtight containers or freezer bags. Blanching vegetables like peas and green beans before freezing helps retain their colour and texture.
3) Canning
Canning allows you to enjoy the vibrant flavours of summer fruits and vegetables even during the coldest months. Invest in a water bath canner or pressure canner for safety and efficiency. Follow tested recipes and proper canning procedures to ensure food safety. Jams, pickles, and tomato sauce are popular choices for home canning.
4) Dehydration
Dehydrating fruits, vegetables, and herbs removes moisture, preserving them for months. You can use a dehydrator or simply set your oven to a low temperature. Dried fruits make for delicious snacks, while dried herbs add flavour to dishes year-round. Store dried goods in airtight containers in a cool, dark place for the best shelf life.
5) Vacuum Sealing
Vacuum sealing removes air from packaging, preventing oxidation and spoilage. Invest in a vacuum sealer to prolong the freshness of summer produce, meats, and even leftovers. Vacuum-sealed bags or containers can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer, depending on your needs.
6) Fermentation
Fermentation not only preserves food but also enhances its flavour and nutritional value. Pickles, sauerkraut, and kimchi are all delicious examples of fermented foods. Experiment with different vegetables and seasonings to create your own fermented delicacies. Remember to use clean, non-reactive containers and follow safe fermentation practices.
7) Airtight plastic containers
Some dry food items like nuts, seeds, legumes, and even our beloved homemade pickles can be stored in plastic containers. These bpa plastic containers have air tight lids which allow them to lock in moisture, and thus helps to preserve food items. However, you should remember to invest in air tight plastic containers from reputed brands to ensure you get the true value for your money.
Conclusion
With these modern techniques, preserving summer food has never been easier or more rewarding. Whether you prefer the simplicity of refrigeration or the complexity of fermentation, there's a method to suit every taste and preference.
So, stock up on your favourite seasonal produce and get ready to embark on a journey to preserve the taste of summer for months to come.
Happy preserving!
Now, revamp your food preservation game with air-tight plastic containers from Varmora. Designed to lock in the freshness of your food by preventing moisture from coming in contact with the contents, these containers are the perfect solution for summertime food preservation.

Can You Freeze Factor Meals?
Alright, folks, let's tackle the burning question on everyone's mind: Can You Freeze Factor Meals? Buckle up, because we're about to embark on a culinary adventure into the frosty world of frozen Factor Meals.
Can You Freeze Factor Meals?
What Are Factor Meals?
First things first, let's get acquainted with Factor Meals. These aren't your average TV dinners, sir. Factor Meals are the real deal, crafted by culinary wizards to bring convenience and nutrition straight to your doorstep. Think of them as your personal chef, whipping up delicious and balanced meals without you lifting a finger.
The Freeze Factor: What to Keep in Mind
Now, before we dive headfirst into the freezing frenzy, there are a few things you need to know. Freezing Factor Meals is a bit like playing with fire; you've got to know what you're doing to avoid getting burned. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
Texture and Flavor: Delicate greens and saucy concoctions may not fare well in the freezer. It's like putting a snowman in the desert—things are bound to get a little messy.
Check Your Freezer: Make sure your freezer is set to a cool 0°F (-18°C). You don't want your Factor Meals to turn into frozen rocks or, worse, a mushy mess.
Safety First: Always follow food safety guidelines for freezing and thawing. Nobody wants a case of food poisoning ruining their dinner plans.
Not All Factor Meals Are Freezer-Friendly
Here's the cold, hard truth: not all Factor Meals are cut out for the icy adventures of freezing. Some ingredients, cooking methods, and packaging types are more freezer-friendly than others. It's like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole—it's just not going to work.
How To Freeze Factor Meals
Alright, now that we've got the basics covered, let's get down to business. Here's your step-by-step guide to freezing factor meals like a pro:
Unpack and label: Say goodbye to the original packaging and give your meal a new home in an airtight container or freezer bag. Don't forget to label it with the meal's name and its freezing date. Organization is key, my friends.
Make space: Leave some breathing room at the top of your container or bag. Your meal needs space to expand as it freezes, kind of like when you eat too much at Thanksgiving dinner and need to loosen your belt a notch.
Off to the Freezer: Pop your neatly packed Factor Meal into the freezer and let it chill—literally. Find a cozy spot where it can hang out until you're ready to dig in.
Thawing Time: When it's time to bust out your frozen treasure, take it out of the freezer and let it thaw in the refrigerator. This isn't a sprint, folks; it's a marathon. Give it several hours to thaw out properly.
Heat It Up: Once your meal has gracefully thawed, it's showtime! You can reheat it in the microwave or oven, following the instructions on the packaging. Just remember, 165°F (74°C) is the magic number for safety.
Pro Tips for Freezing Factor Meals
Now that you're a freezing aficionado, let's take it up a notch with some insider tips:
Freeze meals pronto: The faster you freeze them after receiving them, the fresher they'll be. It's like hitting the pause button on deliciousness.
No double dipping: Once a meal has thawed, it's all about eating it within a couple of days. No going back to the freezer, folks. It's a one-way street to Flavor Town.
Divide and conquer: Portion out meals before freezing for easy access to single servings. It's like meal prep, but without all the hassle.
Don't overstuff. Give your meals some room to breathe in the container to avoid messes. Nobody likes a leaky lasagna situation.
Vacuum seal if you can: A vacuum sealer can suck out excess air and save your meal from freezer's icy grip. It's like putting your meal in a little protective bubble.
Benefits of Freezing Factor Meals
Now that you're a freezing pro, let's talk about why it's worth the effort:
Bye-Bye Food Waste: Freezing Factor Meals extends their shelf life, reducing food waste. It's like being a superhero for your leftovers.
Busy Bee Bliss: For those hectic schedules, frozen meals are a lifesaver. Quick and healthy—just what the doctor ordered. It's like having a personal chef on speed dial.
Money in the Bank: Buy in bulk, freeze away, and enjoy discounts galore. It's like getting a bonus every time you open your freezer.
The Cold Truth: How Freezing Affects Factor Meals
Now, let's get real about the effects of freezing on factor meals:
Texture: Moisture-rich foods like soups can turn a tad grainy or mushy post-freezing. It's like trying to ice skate on a slushy pond—things are going to get a little slippery.
Flavor: Freezing can sometimes dial down the flavor profile, making it a bit muted. It's like listening to your favorite song on low volume—it's still good, but it's missing that oomph.
Separation: Meals with sauces or dressings may separate, altering their texture and appearance. It's like watching your favorite TV show on a bad internet connection—things start to get a little fuzzy.
Nutritional Hit: Extended freezing can sometimes zap certain nutrients, like vitamin C. It's like trying to catch a cold—you might come out a little worse for wear.
But hey, before you write off freezing, know that many Factor Meals soldier on admirably through the chill. The secret sauce (pun intended) is in the details: ingredients, packaging, and, of course, your trusty freezer.
Freezing Unopened Factor Meals: A How-To Guide
Got a stash of unopened Factor Meals that need saving? Let's break it down:
Check the Date: First, make sure your meals are still within their "use by" date before freezing. It's like checking the expiration date on your milk—nobody wants sour surprises.
Keep the Original Packaging: Factor Meals usually come in freezer-safe containers. Leave them be. It's like letting your meal stay cozy in its own little home.
Freezer Conditions: Ensure your freezer is set to the recommended 0°F (-18°C). It's like creating the perfect winter wonderland for your meals.
Label and Date: If you're feeling organized, label the meal with the freezing date. It's like giving your meal a passport for its icy adventure.
Into the freezer: Pop those unopened meals into the freezer and let them chill in their cozy containers. It's like sending your meal off on a well-deserved vacation.
How Long Can You Keep Defrosted Factor Meals?
Once you've thawed your Factor Meals, it's like a ticking clock. How long do they last? Generally, it's safe to consume defrosted Factor Meals within 3–4 days.
Stash them in the fridge immediately after thawing, using a sealed container or bag to avoid mingling flavors. Don't forget to label them with the thawing date for your sanity's sake. And always ensure a thorough reheating to a sizzling 165°F (74°C) before you dig in.
The Art of Defrosting Factor Meals
Now that your Factor Meal is frozen, how do you defrost it for maximum deliciousness? Here are your options:
Refrigerator Defrost: Let your meal thaw slowly in the fridge over the course of hours or even a day or two. This method is safe but requires patience. It's like waiting for Christmas morning—good things come to those who wait.
Cold Water Defrost: In a rush? Seal your meal in a plastic bag and dunk it in cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes until it's thawed. It's like giving your meal a cold, refreshing bath.
Microwave Defrost: If time is of the essence, use the microwave's defrost setting. Watch closely to avoid overheating, and cook immediately after thawing. It's like giving your meal a little zap of energy to get it going.
How to Reheat Factor Meals Like a Culinary Maestro
You've thawed your Factor Meal; now it's time for the grand finale: reheating. Choose your battlefield—a microwave, oven, or stovetop—and follow the packaging's instructions for a sizzling success. Ensure that your meal reaches that magical 165°F (74°C) internal temperature for ultimate food safety.
Signs of a Bad Factor Meal
Now, let's talk worst-case scenarios. How do you know if your Factor Meal has gone rogue? Keep an eye out for these red flags:
Unpleasant Odor: If it smells off, sour, or downright funky, it's time to say goodbye. It's like a warning sign from your nose saying, "Abort mission!"
Mold or Discoloration: Any green, black, or white spots, or unappetizing color changes, spell trouble. It's like Mother Nature's way of saying, "This ain't it, chief."
Texture Shift: Slimy, mushy, or gritty textures aren't friendly indicators. It's like trying to chew through a rubber band—not exactly appetizing.
Bloating or Leaking: A bloated or leaking package may signal spoilage. It's like your meal saying, "I've had enough; let me out here!"
Off-Tasting: If it tastes strange or off, it's time to part ways. It's like trying to drink spoiled milk; there's just no coming back from that.
If you spot any of these signs, bid your Factor Meal farewell to avoid any culinary calamities.
Conclusion
So, there you have it, folks—your guide to freezing Factor Meals like a champ. Yes, you can freeze Factor Meals, but there's an art to it. Proper storage, understanding your meal's compatibility with freezing, and following safety guidelines are the keys to success.
Embrace the convenience, cut down on food waste, and enjoy your flavorful, frozen feasts. Factor meals have never been more versatile, and with a few freezing tricks up your sleeve, you'll have a freezer stocked with deliciousness ready to thaw and delight your taste buds.

TODAY'S FOCUS
Tumblr media
08.30.23 - It is Wednesday my dudes *screams* which means it's my first of two (2) work from home days for me. Too bad it's gloomy af, chilly, and threatening to rain again.
Work - Not much. Since I'm not at the office I can't do filing, mailing, stuff like that. So I'm stuck pretty much just...emailing if I need to. I probably should get into NYM to close the case files I have sitting but uh. I hate that program and avoid it as much as possible lol.
Background Noise - So uh. Dad's back from Syracuse and rather than the usual YT I'll be trying to get the stuff off the DVR that accumulated during his trip. Today we're doing a...true crime cam sort of series, and American Ninja Warrior (I have like 3 episodes to catch up on.) I did do my usual Philip DeFranco/Charlie news round up, and I want to watch FriendlyJordie's video that's the counterpart to the last scam Coffeezilla covered at some point today but I don't know when that will be. I'll probably (mostly) have AEW on mute in the background because I am poisoned by pro wrestling and still have Dark/Elevation shows to watch.
Studying - We're using this word very loosely today. While I will still probably read whatever press releases the OAG puts out, I am focused more on writing today then I am on reading. I have at least one essay on environmental pollution vs vaccine conspiracies, and one on racism and childhood innocence I'm trying to write. I'm pretty sure I have at least one more wrestling essay started. I might buckle down and write some fiction as well.
Extras - Since I'm at home today, we're going to try to do a massive ton of housework. It's catbox day, and vacuum day, as a standard. I managed to clean the microwave last night but I have to self-clean the oven and do the kitchen floor today as well. Once those are done, I can do some of the nitpicky stuff in my dressing room that has to be done to organize, declutter, and generally just make the room work better for me.
